Founded in 1981 by Peter Harrison, Harcourts was formed in a basement office in Bedford Place. Linda Long joined in 1984 and is now the Senior Partner and is supported by Janice Ball (partner) who joined in 1996 and is head of accounts and Lisa Headington (partner) who joined in 2007 and oversees the lettings department. Peter sadly passed away in 2009 but we have continued to build on his good work and to earn a reputation as a trustworthy and traditional property agent, always aiming to provide a fair and personal service to our landlords, property investors and tenants alike.
For over thirty-five years we have been able to provide the necessary support and advice to our Clients as the property market changed and new regulations were brought in. We have always put great importance on staff training and ensuring we are up to date with all new legislation and are prepared for any major changes that are introduced to the lettings industry. We have survived and prospered through several recessions and are confident that we can continue to preserve the high standards and level of care for which we are known.
We firmly believe all agents should be regulated and therefore we are members of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and The Guild of Lettings and Management. All of these governing bodies ensure we follow a strict code of Practice and Rules of Conduct. Additionally, this also means we are members of a Client Money Protection Scheme which give assurance and peace of mind to our landlords that their investment is in safe hands with Harcourts.
